The Wildebraam Experience

There’s plenty to enjoy between berry picking sessions at Wildebraam. Sip and savour in our liqueur tasting room, browse the farm store for homemade treats, or simply settle into the calm of the Hermitage Valley with sweeping mountain views. Whether you’re hiking, biking, birdwatching or soaking up the quiet, Wildebraam offers a countryside escape that’s close to Cape Town and George yet feels worlds away.

Beyond the berries, there is so much to experience. Grown ups can enjoy a guided liqueur tasting, families can explore the orchards and open spaces and everyone can refuel at the Berry Café, our cosy seasonal coffee spot (open from mid November until the end of December). The farm store is filled with delicious local products and you can also pick up a selection of cheeses and deli items either from our shop or from the cheese shop just down the road.

If you’d like to stay a little longer, our self catering units offer comfort and calm with uninterrupted views of the Langeberg Mountains. Nestled in the Hermitage Valley, they are an ideal base for reconnecting, recharging and breathing a little deeper. One night never feels like enough.

Whether you’re here for a day trip, a spontaneous walk in visit or a peaceful weekend away, Wildebraam welcomes you. We are family and pet friendly, welcoming little ones, grown ups and well behaved dogs. Work travellers and solo visitors will find the same sense of calm and comfort. It is a place where anyone can pause, breathe and feel at home.

Located in Swellendam

Wildebraam is situated in Swellendam, part of the Overberg area in the Western Cape.

Swellendam has a way of settling into your senses: the quiet dignity of its historic sites, the oak‑lined streets, the hum of cafés and coffee shops where locals greet you like an old friend and restaurants that turn simple meals into small celebrations.

Framed by mountains and big, generous skies, the town offers a view that slows you down and a community that draws you in with warmth and ease. It’s the kind of place where a single night barely scratches the surface; because in Swellendam, the people, the stories and the experience invite you to linger just a little longer.

Our Story

When we first arrived in the Hermitage Valley, we were captivated by the beauty of it all. The mountains, the quiet, the sense of space and possibility. It felt like a place where something meaningful could grow, even before we knew what shape it would take.

Over the years we shaped that early dream into what is now Wildebraam Berry Estate. It grew slowly, with plenty of learning along the way, but always with a clear intention. We wanted to create a place that felt welcoming and flavourful, a place rooted in the valley we had come to love. What began as a simple dream gradually became a destination where visitors can taste, explore and experience the Hermitage Valley the way we first experienced it ourselves.

Visit our tasting room, where country hospitality still means a little something for free. The tasting room and deli offer liqueurs, jams, relishes and both fresh and frozen berries throughout the year, all handmade right here on the farm. Whether you come for a quiet moment in the valley or a day filled with flavour, whether you arrive curious, hungry or simply in need of fresh air, Wildebraam has a way of making people feel at ease.

Our team shares that same enthusiasm and loves telling the stories behind what we make. Guests can enjoy a tasting experience that is unlike anything else in the region, with flavours that reflect the land, the seasons and the years of craft behind them. From November to January visitors can also pick their own youngberries and blackberries, a simple pleasure that remains close to our hearts.

What matters most to us is that Wildebraam continues to feel like a place where people can slow down, enjoy good flavours and connect with the valley. That intention has guided us from the beginning and still shapes everything we do today.
