We, being Gary (born, bred and educated in Jozi, and keeps coming back!), and Morag (ex-Capetonian … loving the energy of Joburg), have had so much fun restoring this grand old lady, (not Morag, Pytchley House!) to her former glory over the past year. We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate all she has to offer!
Located in the heart of leafy Bryanston, Pytchley House is an elegant three suite bed & breakfast home away from home, brimming with much loved vintage furniture, sensitively restored, together with amazing new finds and treasured period pieces.
Set amongst lush, established gardens alive with birdsong and abundant nature, she provides a serene and private atmosphere while remaining ideally situated for business and (don’t tell anyone!) leisure travellers alike:
Shopping in Sandton!
Partying in Parkhurst!
Mingling at Montecasino (great theatres, bird sanctuary, great dining and gambling …. if you wish)!
Strolling in the various Botanical Gardens or hiking in the dramatic Magaliesberg
For those more culturally inclined, visit the Cradle of Humankind, apartheid museum, and a plethora of art galleries in and around Rosebank, a short drive away!
Explore the Wits Planetarium or Joburg Zoo
A tad further afield (but definitely do-able) is: Hartebeespoort Dam, Sun City, Pilanesberg Game Reserve and for the very adventurous, the internationally famous Kruger National Park (4–5 hour drive, depending on how often you stop ….)
Last but not least, encounter the warm-hearted people of Johannesburg: take a bike ride through Soweto, sample superlative curries (we’ll tell you where), coffee at Melrose Arch, lunch in the country, sundowners at the Westcliff and for dinners, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Johannesburg is indeed a showcase for our rainbow nation!
