OVERVIEW

In a largely flat city, our sloping view site has breathtaking views by local standards (not quite the Swiss Alps or Phuket, but lekker local). If you like to wake to the sounds of birds, and enjoy ocean swimming 10 minutes away, you’re well-placed. Our comfortable rooms and central location are popular with our guests, who re-visit. The undercover out-door braai facilities suit the keen braaimaster, and the cooks’ kitchens mean going hungry is not an option. If self-catering is not your thing, Dundonald Lodge is close to the restaurant zone of Walmer. Too many options for a short stay!

The Lodge is a comfortable 3-bedroomed home with full kitchen and two bathrooms (not en-suite) with a queen bed in the valley-facing Main bedroom, twin singles in the garden-facing middle bedroom and two singles, one on the ground floor and another on a mezzanine accessed by a ladder, in the back bedroom. The loft bedroom is an exciting place for children under the age of 60 and under 1,5m in height. The one bathroom has a shower/basin/oilet while the second has a bath with hand shower, basin and toilet.

The Dassies Den Braai Lapa is sheltered from the prevailing winds providing a great space to enjoy Port Elizabeth's agreeable climate.The front balcony with views of the forested valley, is great to bask in the sun or enjoy a coffee or sundowners.

The lounge has a smart / android TV so bring your Netflix subscription details. Youtube Premium is available. We do not have DSTV..

Secure parking is available for regular size vehicles (vehicles fitted with roof-top tents subject to availability)

We have The Studio for a comfortable stay for two quests in a queen bed, but if we add the interleading room which has a double bed and a single bed, it becomes The Sunrise Suite for up to 5 guests! Entrance is through the Front room which also has the kitchenete. Through the passage past the bathroom is the interleading bedroom (no independent entrance) which also has a lounge seating area. The Smart TV is in the Studio section.

The kitchenette has a double induction hob, electric fry-pan, kettle, toaster, microwave with grill and an undercounter fridge.

There is an undercover built-in braai in the garden, 40 metres away, Relax under the trees!

Dundonald Lodge Karibu Suite
Sleeps 2

Our well-equipped "premium-finishes" Karibu Suite has a north-facing protected entrance into the bedroom with solid beech floors and unique custom queen bed  made with heritage timbers. The travertine-tiled bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet and lots of mirrors! The travertine floored kitchen has an antique extractor! An electric oven, gas hob, microwave with grill, kettle, toaster and fridge with freezer complete the unit which often has long-stay guests.

The guests are welcome to enjoy the undercover garden braai, onky 20 metres away.

Booking cancellations - just so we're clear

Any booking cancelled within 5 days of the arrival date will not be eligible for a refund or token return. We know plans can change, but this approach helps protect both hosts and guests and keeps the exchange running smoothly. Before confirming your stay, please make sure you’ve read our full Terms and Conditions, where everything is explained in a little more detail – no surprises, promise. 

House rules and important info

Lodge: Minimum 4 guests for minimum two nights, max 4 nights midweek. Max 3 nights weekend.

Studio and Karibu: minimum 2 guests for minimum 2 nights over weekend, minimum 2 guests for one or more nights Monday to Thursday, max 3 nights overall.

Sunrise Suite: minimum 3 guests for minimum 2 nights over weekend, minimum 3 guests for one or more nights Monday to Thursday.

Guests are responsible to pay for breakages and damages.

Smoking is only permitted in the garden and braai areas away from the dwelling units.

Regret no Exchanges available between 15 December and 10 January each summer.
